What makes the Ballade RS different?

The Ballade RS is unique in a variety of ways

The Honda Ballade continues to be one of South Africa’s most recognisable brand names as it contributes significantly to the on going success of the Honda brand in South Africa.

Launched at the end of 2020 the new Ballade raises the bar with a sporty and sophisticated exterior design and an extensive list of high tech features and technology as standard. The introduction of the new Ballade also saw the rollout of the RS nomenclature, which adds a number of unique features to the Ballade.

What makes RS models unique?

Setting the Ballade RS apart from other models is a number of sporty styling enhancements. Range topping RS models feature LED headlights and fog lights as opposed to the halogen lights of Comfort and Elegance models. RS models also feature bigger 16-inch alloy wheels.

Exclusive design elements include sporty front and rear bumpers, a rear boot spoiler, a mesh type grille and a unique fog light housing.

Inside story

Inside the Ballade features a modern driver-orientated cockpit that balances ease of use, high quality materials and great design. Driver orientated ergonomics are a key focus area with the Ballade offering a comfortable seating position with intuitive access to the various controls. The seats of the RS model are covered in premium leather upholstery as opposed to the high-quality fabric of Comfort and Elegance models.

Elegance and RS models feature a neatly integrated high-resolution eight-inch touchscreen display that offers drivers complete Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality as well as Bluetooth, all of which can be controlled via the steering wheel.

RS models add to this extensive interior offering with the addition of a host of additional features and technology including smart entry with walk-away locking, a rear-view parking camera, electric sunroof. A seven-inch TFT multi-information display replaces the traditional analogue instrument cluster ahead of the driver and truly adds a modern touch to the driving experience of the Ballade RS. The driver is able to customise the type of information that is displayed here via controls on the steering wheel.

Under the bonnet

All models in the Ballade range are fitted with the 1.5-litre DOHC engine featuring i-VTEC technology, which offers 89kW at 6 600rpm and 145Nm at 4500rpm, while using just 5.5 litres per 100km. The Ballade, even in RS trim, thus offers a great combination of performance and fuel economy.

All Ballade models are fitted with a revised version of Honda’s CVT transmission featuring G-Design shift control which creates the feeling of a traditional automatic transmission through the integration of artificial gears during acceleration.

Safety comes standard

All Ballade models, regardless of their trim level feature a variety of standard safety features including ABS, EBD and Vehicle Stability Assist. Rear parking sensors are standard on RS models as is a reverse parking camera for added convenience. Passive safety includes a driver, front passenger, side and curtain airbags.
